Last seen at death's door, Selina Kyle (Catwoman) has disappeared,
assumed dead. But the mysterious circumstances of her death
draw the attention of a private detective - Slam Bradley.
Selina's encounter with Bradley convinces her to reclaim the
mantle of the Catwoman and continue to prowl the rooftops
of Gotham City...
The
Dark End of the Street
is divided into two stories. The first, Slam Bradley -
Trail of the Catwoman, follows the aforementioned private
detective as he tries to uncover whether Selina Kyle is really
dead and whether she is really the Catwoman. Anodyne
sees Catwoman back on the streets looking for the murderer
of Gotham City's prostitutes.
Both
stories in this collection are well written and illustrated
and both are extremely engaging. My only real complaint is
that the collection really warrants a better grade of paper
than Titan have reprinted the stories on. Glossy pages would
have given this a much better presentation, but instead the
paper stock is roughly the same quality as the original comics
were printed on.
Batman
makes a brief appearance to show his concern for Catwoman,
but thankfully he doesn't get in the way of a good story.
An above
average graphic novel with below average production values.
