Judge Dredd is the future lawman and dispenser of instant
and brutal justice on the streets of Mega-City One, a sprawling
urban nightmare rife with crime and vice. Emerald Isle's Judge
Joyce makes a visit to Mega-City One on the trail of a couple
of bank robbers. Out of his depth, the Irish Judge must join
forces with Dredd in order to apprehend the criminals...
Innocents
Abroad is a collection of stories from the pages of 2000AD.
All have been penned by writer Garth Ennis. The first story,
Innocent's Abroad, is actually the dullest in the collection.
Not that it is bad, just that the other stories are a lot
better. Take Babes in Arms, for example, where a group
of women who have been conned by their husbands set out to
kill them one by one.
Or
there's the hilarious The Rough Guide to Suicide where
an illegal manual on how to kill yourself is proving to be
a huge hit amongst the residents of Mega-City One, much to
the annoyance of the Justice Department. Or Blind Mate,
which spoofs the ITV series Blind Date, complete with
a replica of Cilla Black. The
collection concludes with Twin Blocks, which pays homage
to Twin Peaks - although it's a little too short and
dry.
It
also helps that Greg Staples illustrates all but one of the
stories. His twisted style of drawing helps bring a wonderfully
nightmarish feel to the collection.
In
conclusion, this full colour collection is great value for
money and is a great novel to dip in and out of. Another great
collection for Dredd fans.
