When Judge Dredd returns from the Cursed Earth he's convicted
of murder. Now, with Dredd out of the way, the stage is set
for the ascent to power of the crazed head of the Special
Judicial Service - Judge Cal. With Cal in charge of Mega-City
One, the law soon becomes a nightmare as the judges turn on
the citizens. Only Judge Dredd and a handful of wounded judges
can stop this madness...
The
Day the Law Died is
the fourth 2000AD collector's edition graphic novel
to be launched by Titan Books. And Dredd fans will
be pleased to hear that they have done a fantastic job of
publishing a novel that collectors will be proud to own.
While
the story is rather dark the introduction of the crazed Judge
Cal, and his deputy Judge Fish, bring some much needed humour
to the plot.
The
story was adapted as a radio drama by Dirk Maggs for serialisation
a few years ago on Radio One and this was the first time I
had seen the comic strips from which the radio broadcasts
were crafted. It's a credit to the original strips that the
radio series changed hardly any of the content - instead they
faithfully followed the script.
There
is a bit of chopping and changing with artists which is very
noticeable, but apart from that this is a faultless collection.
Titan
proves, once again, why it is master of the graphic novel
industry.
