Neo-Tokyo lies in ruin. The culprit, a small buy with psychic
abilities named Akira. Street gangs rule supreme. Akira must
be stopped but no weaponry exists that can do the job effectively.
Not only that, but there is another growing threat. Tots,
another physic, is starting to realise the powers he can muster...
Akira:
Volume 5 represents
the penultimate act of Katsuhiro Otomo's masterpiece and it
shows as he gives his all. The artwork is more vivid and the
plot gathers pace ready to unleash its final kick in volume
6.
Akira
take a back seat during the majority of this volume, with
the main narrative woven around the self realisation of Tetsuo's
psychic capabilities. The transformation of Tetsuo is disturbing
in its graphic content as man and machine are fused.
Oh,
and for those who like to giggle at naked girls then there
are a few pages to keep you chuckling.
This
volume has everything.
