After
reading about the murder of an old girlfriend, Isabel Bracknell,
John Constantine decides to try and uncover how she ended
up rotting in a filthy squat in Brixton and who it was that
decided her time was up. But as he gets closer to piecing
together Bracknell's last days, his inquiries earn him a savage
warning from the killer to mind his own business...
Haunted
is another cracking Hellblazer graphic novel from the
twisted mind of Warren Ellis. A world in which the line between
good guy and bad guy is blurred - basically a down to Earth
comic.
Set
in London, Constantine's almost obsessive quest to hunt down
Bracknell's killer takes him to some of the more undesirable
areas of the once great capital city. There are some fairly
graphic images, including the death of two hired thugs who
play chicken with a tube train - and lose.
Portraying
London as a dirty, uninviting city, John Higgins' illustrations
capture vividly some of the more undesirable locations in
the Big Smoke. Not only that, but Ellis goes on to explain
how most of our precious capital city is built on rotting
corpses - nice thought. And it is these souls which are dragging
London's spirit down.
An
engaging story and some beautiful artwork make this a must
for serious comic book collectors. Simply magic.
