He
is one of the most powerful and feared beings in the universe
but Darkseid the schemer faces a menace beyond even his great
abilities. Now the towering New God must find aid from beyond
boundaries of his realm - forced to seek it in the camp of
his enemies...
Although
not made apparent, Cosmic Odyssey is really a JLA/JSA
graphic novel - and a pretty good one at that.
The
story is interesting and well constructed. For those who like
a little comic history there is also a lengthy introduction
which plots the history of the comic superhero.
Mike
Mignola, of Hellboy fame, turns in a strange collection
of artwork. It wasn't until Darkseid makes his first appearance
that I realised Mignola's individual style. His illustrations
for the other characters ranges from impressive to average
- as though he had to rush certain pages.
I
am still having problems working out Titan's pricing policy.
It doesn't seem to reflect page count and quality of the paper
stock. And £18 does seem a little on the expensive side
for a collection of this size.
Apart
from that, this will make a worthy addition to most comic
fan's collection. Interesting, but not an essential purchase.
