Six
years ago, a vicious murderer terrorised Gotham City - and
Batman couldn't stop the killings. Now the murders have begun
again,
and Batman has a chance at redemption. The Journey will take
him through a terrifying hinterland of mystery and witchcraft.
From the dark streets of Gotham to the darker jungles of wartime
Vietnam. Success is Batman's only option - because if he fails
again, all Hell will break loose...
Let
me start by saying that Harvest Breed is one of the
best looking graphic novels I have read for some time. George
Pratt's artwork is amazing - most panels look like they belong
in a gallery rather than a comic book.
The
story is also engaging and original to the Batman universe.
I haven't seen illustrations as sick and twisted as these
since Dave McKean's work on Arkham Asylum.
Sadly
there is a section of the book which is almost unreadable.
I don't really want to squint, or ask other people: "What
does that word say?" in order to enjoy a book.
Ignoring
that, Batman fans should still be able to enjoy this
beautifully presented graphic novel.
