Neil
Gaiman's Sandman has won numerous awards and The
Sandman: King of Dreams charts the evolution of the character
from its first to last issue. Wonderfully written by Alisa
Kwitney, this book treats the reader to an in-depth examination
of the story arcs and includes never before seen material.
Author
Kwitney (or maybe editor might be a more fitting title) collects
together tons of material to keep even the most anal of Sandman
fans happy (me for example). It's hardly surprising that Kwitney
knows her onions - she was an assistant
editor to the comic series.
It's
fairly obvious, but I though I'd better clarify, that this
collection is not for those who have never read a Sandman
comic, don't know who he is or what he does. This is a collection
for those of us who have followed Neil Gaiman's creation as
it unfolded and who wept (well, almost) when there were no
more stories to tell.
This
is a wonderfully detailed book with quality glossy pages and
a coffee book edition feel to it thanks to its huge hardcover.
Serious
Sandman fans won't want to miss out on getting their
hands on this essential collection.
