When an Alien surfaces in Mega-City One, the Judges must go
all-out to capture or destroy it. But, there's a devastating
secret concealed beneath the city - and it may well be more
than the Justice Department can handle...
The
first thing that struck me about Incubus was that the
presentation was first class. Rebellion certainly know how
to deliver the goods so that they are pleasing to the eye.
A nice hardback A4 edition, packed full of high grade glossy
pages in full colour, is exactly what comic readers deserve
when they purchase a collector's item like this. And they
won't be disappointed, especially when they see what the asking
price is. Most flimsy graphic novels usually command the same
price.
With
the exception of The Chopper chronicles, Necropolis
and The Judge Child Quest, this has to be one of the
most entertaining Dredd stories to have ever been committed
to paper.
While
the plot is fairly formulaic - Hell, this is an Aliens
story, they don't do anything but breed and kill - somehow
John Wagner and Andy Diggle manage to make it appear fresh
and exciting. You know there are going to be certain elements
(chest bursters, face huggers and eggs) but, despite being
a huge Aliens fan, the big surprise scene (which should
not really have been a surprise) still caught me off guard.
Artist
Henry Flint's work is very similar in style to Dredd's
co-creator Carlos Ezquerra. This collection sees him reworking
HR Giger's Aliens with great results.
There
is nothing to fault this collection. It's perfect!
