Aquaman has been branded a traitor and dethroned by his human-hating
subjects, who leave him for dead.
But, as Atlantis prepares to wage war on humanity, Aquaman
is visited by the legendary Lady of the Lake who convinces
him to fight for his kingdom!...
If
stories about men who smell of fish, pee in the sea, and ride
around on saddled dolphins are your idea of entertainment,
then The Water Bearer will appeal to you. If, on the
other hand, you are a strictly land-based comics fan, then
this won't be your cup of tea at all.
There
are comical moments - like Aquaman trying to convince anyone
who'll listen that he is the exiled King of Atlantis, and
the fact that "Shark droppings" is apparently an
expletive - but on the whole there is nothing of interest
to casual readers.
While
this collection never takes itself too seriously, the sad
fact is that it is fairly average stuff.
There
are no real surprises here... while it will certainly appeal
to Aquaman fans, it holds nothing of interest for casual
observers.
