The
guys from Angel take a backseat for three tales of
supernatural girl power. The Changeling Wife shows
angel trying to help a strange lady caught in an abusive marriage,
Strange Bedfellows, sees angel up against a renegade
vampire prostitute, and Phantom Dennis tells the tale
of tag team Cordelia and her invisible flat mate Dennis, when
evil comes to visit...
Strange
Bedfellows, is one of the better Angel graphic
novels to come out to date. It is the final collection derived
from the first Angel series, before the comics change
format into a mini-series string of one-shots instead.
All
of the stories are good ones, and actually of a substantial
length, which seems to be rare these days in TV cross over
comics. The most humorous is Phantom Dennis, which
adds a little something new to the series which we don't get
to see on TV. As an added bonus there is a small (and I mean
very small) comic strip at the back which was made specifically
for a US TV mag and has not been seen anywhere else before
now.
As
an Angel fan this is definitely one to add to the collection,
and for someone new, it is definitely a good place to start
- especially as two of the stories feature scripts by Christopher
Golden, one of pocket books best authors of Buffy and
Angel novels.
