Believed dead after they successfully saved the Earth from
the threat of the Red Moon, Dan and his friends have crashed
on Mercury and fallen into the hands of the rock creatures
that inhabit the planet! To make matters worse, Dan's nemesis,
the dreaded Mekon, is once more on his trail and Dan is again
caught between a rock and a hard place...
Titan
take us back in time (or forward depending on your point of
view) with the latest Dan Dare collection Marooned on Mercury.
This
graphic novel opens with the human race mourning the death
of Dan and his crew, presumed killed after their successful
attack on the red moon. However, as luck would have it, they
are alive and well but stranded on Mercury.
The
stories are engaging, the art work beautiful and the colour
vibrant, but... I've said it before and I'll say it again.
It's questionable whether this collection will appeal to the
younger generation of comic collectors. However, if like me,
you are a bit of an old fogey (in your mid-30s or older) then
this will take you back to the days when the UK had a decent
comic industry.
As
fans of this series have come to expect there are a few additional
extras including part three of an interview with Frank Hampson;
a look at the art of Frank Hampson; and a Who's Who in
Dan Dare.
Worth
getting hold of for nostalgic values alone.
