Just when things seemed to be settling down for our heroines,
Black Canary is sent to China on a mission of mercy and runs
in to the deadly combatant who is known as Lady Shiva. It
turns out that Shiva has an agenda of her own, while making
Canary an offer that could change the course of her life.
Meanwhile, Oracle's personal life is a shambles - and now
her work seems to be as well - as the information she feeds
out to her various heroes starts going strangely and dangerously
awry. With the Huntress
also stumbling upon some of Oracle's secrets, can the Birds
hope to stick together?...
Sensei
& Student is a mighty fine collection and will take
fans on a rollercoaster ride. Just why is someone trying to
discover who Oracle is and what possible reason could they
have to want to ensure she stops operating? What does Lady
Shiva want with Black Canary? And how far will Huntress go
to save her friends?
While
this is one long tale, it's really a collection of shorter
stories all mixed together - with an explosive result. Double
dealing, secret affairs, lies, deceit and good old fashioned
murder are all twisted into this collection. And there
are brief appearances by Batman, Batgirl, Catwoman and Wonderwoman
- which is nice to see.
The
art work is also worthy of note. Fine story telling also needs
a damn fine collection of artists, and that's just what this
graphic novel gets. The majority of these pages are incredible
- if you've never fallen in love with a comic character before
this could be your first.
