Ravaged and weakened by civil war, the Republic has turned
to the Jedi to lead its clone armies against the droid forces
of the Separatists. But even as the last desperate engagements
of the Clone Wars are being fought, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Senator
Padmé
Amidala, and the Jedi Order are faced with a new battle -
for the heart and soul of Anakin Skywalker...
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith sees Anakin
being seduced by the power of the dark side. Playing on Skywalker's
concern for the safety of his wife, the same master manipulator
who has plunged the galaxy into war is slowly but surely drawing
Anakin to the brink of his own doom - and that of the Republic.
A husband and wife will be separated, friends will become
enemies, and a great evil is revealed.
You
have to hand it to George Lucas. He's whipping up such a frenzy
of excitement for the final part of the Star Wars saga
and yet he is still intent on shrouding everything in secrecy.
Why? This has to be about the greatest con ever pulled off
- certainly the largest. We already know how it will all turn
out.
I
don't want to spoil anything for you but (shock! Horror!)
Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader... and that is all you
need to know. So why all the secrecy? It's not like we could
have any element of the movie spoiled for us is it? There
will be little revelations, but the fact that he fathers Luke
and Leia and turns to the Dark Side are the biggest developments
- and we already know what's coming.
The
last couple of months here at Sci-fi-online Towers have been
unbearable. Book publishers and game developers have not allowed
us to get our grubby hands on any Star Wars merchandise
until the item is actually out in the shops. So, it came as
something of a surprise when the whole damn movie (in comic
book form) plopped onto our Reviews Editor's desk.
The
art work is amazing. After seeing so many duff movie comic
adaptations, I was shocked to see that someone had taken a
great deal of time and effort to ensure that this collection
was as classy as possible.
Okay,
the plot may not be up to much (it certainly beats Episode
I and II though), but what Miles Lane has achieved
is nothing short of a thing of beauty. Whether or not the
movie is presented as well as this graphic novel remains to
be seen. But, if it is you may just forgive Lucas for feeding
you the tripe that were Episodes I and II.
