On
their relentless journey of revenge, Michael O'Sullivan and
his young son strike back at the Capone mob, unaware they
are on a collision course with the Two Jacks - the deadliest
bounty hunters of Depression-Era America. Along the way, the
Angel of Death must single handedly storm a Kansas City police
station, turn a country church into a fortress, and risk the
life of a long-ago love to save his boy from death...
Set
in between the events chronicled in the original New York
Times best-selling graphic novel, Road to Perdition
2: On the Road further explores the complex Chicago gang
lord Frank Nitti while at the same time delving into Michael
O'Sullivan's past.
This
graphic novel was previously released in three parts by Titan
Books. When I reviewed them originally, I moaned that they
were a little over priced and that I'd love to see a single
release that collected all three parts under one cover. Thankfully
that has now happened and all three parts are available under
one cover for less than £10 (buying the previous versions
would have set you back just under £20).
This
release charts the untold passage of time that the movie was
unable to account for and it does a fantastic job of giving
more depth to the events in the film. The
artwork is great, with a 1920/30s style to it. Also there
a some neat stylistic choices too. For example, whenever the
world of the mob encroaches on Michael Junior, the artist
uses a lot of black that engulfs the character to suggest
the unease that he feels.
A
fantastic collection.
