When two new cadets accidentally transport themselves to Space
Station XQY they are captured by the evil Mekon. Dan Dare
bravely sets out to save them and is plunged into the Mekon's
latest plot to re-conquer Venus, and then take Earth. Can
Dan, Digby and two cadets save not one, but two planets?...
As
with previous releases in the Dan Dare range of graphic
novels, Prisoners of Space is only really likely to
appeal to those who grew up on The Eagle's most famous
character.
While
this is a great collection (made even better by the quality
treatment that Titan have lavished on it) it has aged a little
less gracefully that it could have - even though, for a kids
comic series, it was well ahead of its time.
Extras
in this collection include an introduction by Sir Tim Rice;
Working With Frank Hampson - a retrospective feature by Bruce
Cornwell, who was responsible for fleshing out the majority
of the machinery and technology in the original strips; and
a Who's Who in Dan Dare run down.
Another
classic slice of nostalgia which will be welcomed by all Dan
Dare fans.
