After the traumatic events of Batman: War Games, two
of Gotham's youngest heroes - Robin and Batgirl - relocate
to Bludhaven, where they must pick up the pieces of their
lives and start anew. But before they can get fully settled
in, they discover they have new threats to face, including
Nightwing's enemy Shirke and their old friend the Penguin.
In order to save the day, the two heroes realise there's only
one thing they can do: battle each other to the death...
Fresh
Blood takes
up the story where the third
instalment of Batman: War Games left off.
Having said that, it is by no means essential that you have
read War Games, but if you have, it helps to flesh
out the back story.
Robin
has decided to move to Bludhaven, but Batman sends Batgirl
to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get out of
his depth. It's not long before Robin is in deep water, as
he is hunted down and attacked.
And,
when one of Batman's old foes comes to Bludhaven, he soon
sets in motion a plot to trap both the Boy Wonder and Batgirl.
Then he sets them on one another in a fight to the death.
This
collection includes stories that were originally printed in
Robin #132 and #133, and Batgirl #58 and #59.
The art work and scripts are both outstanding. While the actually
story is a little clichéd in places, this doesn't detract
from what is an entertaining read.
There's
also some sexual tension between Batgirl and Robin - made
even more amusing by the fact that Batgirl can read Robin's
body language. This makes it impossible for Robin to lie to
her about his feelings.
Definitely
one to add your collection.
