Buffy's mum is dead. Emotions are running high, and lots of
little things are causing lots of little problems. Somehow,
the fight against the forces of darkness doesn't seem that
crucial, anymore. Somebody should have told that to the group
of angry, deformed green demon children tearing apart Buffy's
house and trying to chew off her face...
As
well as the Ugly Little Monsters story, this graphic
novel also shows the release of Night of a Thousand Vampires,
a follow on story to one of the earlier comic strips, where
a mother of a girl that Buffy didn't save is trying to get
revenge on the slayer for her death.
Both
stories are pretty good, and have a little humour in them,
which always adds a little something. The
artwork for Ugly Little Monsters is very good, and
a lot more vibrant than earlier Buffy graphic novel artwork.
Looking
like quite a regular thing now is a extra section from editor
Scott Allie, which shows some of the artwork in progress,
and a selection of the one shot cover artworks. All in all,
a two stories in one deal, and both of them are enjoyable.
Not a bad deal really.
