Super strength, super speed, invisibility and elasticity - these are your powers. Bombs, bullets, robots and lasers - your enemy controls them all. The only way to survive, being the Incredibles, is to truly be incredible.
The Incredibles movie tells the story of a family of undercover superheroes that are trying to live a quiet, suburban life, but are forced back into action in order to save the world. This action/adventure game is based on the characters from the movie, and allows you to play as the film's main characters...

I am always apprehensive about movie-tie in games. Sadly, more often than not, they are pretty poor affairs - usually rushed out to ensure that they hit the shelves to coincide with the movie release. So far the majority of games based on Pixar movies have been very disappointing. Finding Nemo and A Bugs Life were both mediocre affairs and it was a surprise to see that The Incredibles very nearly pulls it off.

The game nicely intercuts the action with cut scenes from the movie. While the game doesn't really follow the narrative of the movie, this actually helps more than hinders, as one of the biggest complaints with this genre of game is that they fail to capture the excitement of the movie.

You start off as Mr Incredible and once you've complete the first level you switch to playing Mrs Incredible. Both characters have their own powers. Mr Incredible has super strength, while Mrs Incredible has stretchy arms which can reach long distances and grab hold of the bad guys.

It looks nice, in a cutesy sort of way, and there are plenty of different elements to keep you glued to your console. In truth though, this game's real target market is the 7-11 year olds.

The biggest problem I had with this game was the fact that it does not allow you to reverse the camera controls. This, for anyone who is used to switching their horizontal and vertical camera position, has the desired effect of making it difficult to pan the camera around while you are moving.

It could have been a lot worse than it is, and for young fans of the movie, this is a pretty enjoyable offering.
