Captain Scarlet is a patchy show - a point well illustrated
by the opening episode on this tape. Renegade Rocket,
one of the first stories into production but held back until
half way through transmission, is about as dull as the show
gets. Just why Scarlet and Blue disobey Colonel White is never
explained, their insubordination won't save lives.
Things
improve with Crater 101, Shadow of Fear and
Dangerous Rendezvous although the pace in these three
episodes could hardly be described as breakneck. But they
do progress Spectrum's fight back against the Mysterons, with
Crater 101 starting an interesting story arch.
The
picture and sound quality are about as good as VHS can deliver
but the DVDs really do put them in the shade. The episodes,
however, are just about average.
