Varèse Sarabande release Marcelo Zarvos's score for The Face of Love. Five years after the death of her beloved husband Garrett (Ed Harris), Nikki (Annette Bening) meets a man who seems his exact duplicate. Not only does this stranger possess the same deeply lined face and startling blue eyes, he also shares Garrett's kindness, humour, and passion for art. And yet he is a stranger. Romance blossoms between Nikki and this alluring doppelgänger, but she can't bring herself to tell him the truth about what drew her to him. So she hides her photos and prevents him from meeting friends and family. Still, she can't resist taking him to all the old haunts. It isn't a question of if the truth will come out, but when. Arie Posin directs this emotionally thorny drama about how we cope with loss, live in the moment and ultimately move forward...

Marcelo Zarvos (The Bay; Beastly; Enough Said; Reaching for the Moon; Won't Back Down; The Words) delivers yet another emotionally charged and beautifully orchestrated score for The Face of Love. Zarvos is quickly becoming one of those composers whose work I always eagerly anticipate and love listening to.

This is another melancholic but, paradoxically, uplifting scores that takes the listener on a powerful and emotional journey. The album contains 24 tracks (50 min). While there are no standout themes to latch on too, this is one of those rare albums that works as a whole. The entire album flows well and builds up an emotional response in the listener due to the fact that it contains a slow build of beautiful, yet subtle, themes.

Tracks that I particularly enjoyed, included 'The Face of Love'; 'Painting Montage'; 'Beach Chase'; 'The Kiss' (which reminded me of Garry Schyman's incredibly creepy score for the original BioShock game); 'Come With Me to Mexico'; and 'Seeing Tom'.

This is yet another beautiful score from one of the most interesting composers currently working in the industry.
