Don't just watch it - live it.
WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007 brings the intensity of being a WWE Superstar to the next level by offering players unprecedented levels of choice and control. The #1 wrestling game in the world delivers the next generation of WWE video games with key new features, incredible graphics and engaging, highly realistic WWE action in and beyond the ring...

A word of warning for WWE fans: You might think you know what you're doing when you load up this game. But, if you are familiar with the control system from previous games in the franchise, you are strongly advised to spend a few minutes watching the video tutorials as there are a number of changes to the 2007 edition.

First up the control system has been updated. While it's not radically different, it does take a little time to get used to. The trusty old grapples are now instigated by use of the right thumbstick. Pushing the right thumbstick up, down, left and right, allows you to perform one of four quick grapple moves. And, if you also push the R1 button you can perform a strong grapple move instead. Choosing a strong grapple move also gives you the opportunity to apply a special move (again by pushing thumbstick in any direction) or pushing the R3 button will allow you to perform an ultimate control move (which allows you to perform more damaging moves against your opponent.)

Another addition to the franchise is the ability to use your environment to inflict more damage on your opponent. There are various hot spots dotted around. Drag your opponent into these hot spots and you can perform certain moves using objects close at hand.

On the negative side though the commentary is a little poor. It can on occasions be slow and incorrect, but then to be honest when you're trying to beat your opponent you are not really concentrating on the commentary.

The build a wrestler mode is pretty much left untouched, as are most of the general modes available. The changes to this year's game represent only fine tweaking to previous instalments. To be perfectly honest, if you already own the 2006 offering, then there's not a whole lot of point buying this new version.
